About Mobilize Financial Services

Mobilize Financial Services (formerly Renault Financial Services, then RCI Financial Services) operates as the captive lender for Renault Group's UK brands, providing finance through the franchised Renault and Dacia dealer networks. The business forms part of RCI Banque and typically captured the majority of new car finance at the point of sale for both brands. Broad market lenders also wrote Renault and Dacia finance through independent dealers and used vehicle outlets.

Current scheme status

Within scope of FCA scheme; participating in implementation. Formerly known as Renault Financial Services.

Dacia and motor finance

Dacia is Renault Group's budget brand in the UK, known for value-for-money pricing; growing volumes through the scheme period as the brand expanded from a niche position.

HP was initially dominant for Dacia given the lower vehicle prices, with PCP growing in use from around 2017 onwards. Mobilize Financial Services (formerly Renault Financial Services) operated through Dacia's franchised dealer network.

Dacia's deliberately low vehicle prices mean finance agreement values were among the smallest in the FCA scheme, typically £6,000 to £14,000. HP was more common than PCP given the lower vehicle prices and shorter typical terms. Despite smaller agreement values, Dacia's rapid UK growth from 2012 generated a significant number of finance transactions. At these lower values, an undisclosed commission represented a proportionally large share of the total cost of credit, which remains relevant under the FCA scheme's calculation methodology.

Common Dacia models in scope

  • Dacia Duster

Dacia's SUV and bestselling UK model from its 2012 launch; strong finance volumes throughout the scheme period, particularly on HP due to the accessible vehicle price.

  • Dacia Sandero

Dacia's supermini; one of the UK's most affordable cars and commonly financed on HP and PCP throughout the scheme period.

  • Dacia Jogger

Dacia's family SUV-estate launched in 2022; PCP volumes from launch to the November 2024 scheme end date.

Are you eligible?

You may be eligible to claim against Mobilize Financial Services if all of the following apply:

  • You took out a PCP or HP motor finance agreement between 6 April 2007 and 1 November 2024.
  • The finance was arranged through a UK dealer or broker, on a regulated agreement.
  • The agreement was for a car, van or motorcycle for personal use.
  • You can identify yourself, we can trace the agreement details on your behalf.

What makes an agreement eligible?

  • A Discretionary Commission Arrangement (DCA) was in place and was not properly disclosed to you. Under a DCA, the dealer could increase your interest rate to earn a larger commission from the lender without telling you.
  • The commission paid to the dealer was unusually high — amounting to at least 39% of the total cost of credit and 10% of the loan — and was not properly disclosed.
  • There was a contractual tie giving the lender exclusivity over your finance, which was not made apparent to you.

Note: agreements arranged through a captive finance arm can still fall within scope. The scheme covers regulated motor finance agreements regardless of whether the lender is independent or manufacturer-owned.

What you could receive

The FCA has confirmed the average payout under the scheme is £829 per agreement. Individual outcomes vary depending on the size of your agreement, the commission charged, and how long the finance ran. If you financed more than one vehicle through Mobilize Financial Services, each agreement can be assessed.

Frequently asked questions

Did Mobilize Financial Services use Discretionary Commission Arrangements on Dacia finance?
Like most motor finance lenders operating before the FCA ban in January 2021, Mobilize Financial Services (formerly Renault Financial Services) operated commission arrangements with dealers. If your Dacia finance agreement was arranged through Renault Financial Services or Mobilize Financial Services between 2007 and 2024, it may fall within the FCA's scheme.
Which Dacia models are covered?
Any Dacia agreement financed through Mobilize Financial Services between 2007 and 2024 may be in scope, including models such as Duster, Sandero and Jogger. Eligibility depends on the specific agreement, not the model.
Can I do this myself?
Yes. You can contact your lender directly to make a complaint, or refer your claim to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) yourself for free. The FCA's Consumer Redress Scheme is also designed to be accessible without legal representation.
Will making a claim affect my credit score?
No. Making a claim will not affect your credit score. This is a separate process from your credit history.
Do I need to find old paperwork?
No documents are required to get started. We can trace your finance agreements using basic personal details.
What if my lender has been taken over or has exited the market?
This is common for agreements going back to 2007. If the original lender has been acquired, merged, rebranded, or has exited the market, the successor firm typically inherits liability for historic agreements. We handle this on your behalf.
