Volkswagen Financial Services and Porsche

Porsche agreements with VWFS: the largest balances in the scheme

Porsche Centres in the UK financed through Volkswagen Financial Services, trading as Porsche Financial Services. Agreement values on a Macan or Cayenne routinely ran to five figures well above the market average, and a 911 or Panamera higher again. On an agreement of that size, even a small discretionary uplift to the interest rate produced a large commission over the term, which is why Porsche agreements are among the most valuable to check.

Porsche buyers were also more likely than most to take a balloon-heavy PCP and change the car every two or three years, so several agreements in the scheme window is common. Each is assessed separately under the FCA's rules.

VWFS is one of the three lenders challenging the scheme in the Upper Tribunal. The challenge affects when any payment is made, not whether an agreement is eligible.

About Volkswagen Financial Services

Volkswagen Financial Services is one of three lenders currently challenging the FCA's redress scheme in the Upper Tribunal, alongside Mercedes-Benz Financial Services and Crédit Agricole Auto Finance. The FCA has confirmed it will defend the scheme robustly. The Upper Tribunal will hear the challenges between 16 and 26 February 2027.

Volkswagen Financial Services operates as the captive lender for all VW Group brands in the UK, including Volkswagen, Audi, SEAT, Skoda, and Porsche. It is deeply integrated into the franchised dealer networks of each brand, typically capturing the majority of new car finance arranged at the point of sale. The business is wholly owned by Volkswagen AG and operates separately from independent broad market lenders, which also write VW Group finance through used vehicle dealers and some franchised sites.

Volkswagen Financial Services is one of the lenders challenging the FCA's scheme in the Upper Tribunal. The hearing is listed for 16 to 26 February 2027. The scheme remains in force, with parts suspended, pending the outcome, and this does not prevent you from registering a claim now.

Porsche and motor finance

Porsche is a luxury sports and SUV brand with some of the highest average agreement values in the UK market; commission disclosure failures on Porsche agreements may attract significantly above-average redress.

PCP was strongly dominant for Porsche, with Volkswagen Financial Services (VWFS) active through franchised Porsche dealers. Note that VWFS is currently challenging the FCA's scheme in the Upper Tribunal. Very high average agreement values mean commission exposure can be substantial in eligible cases.

Porsche operates at the luxury end of the UK market, with some of the highest average finance agreement values in scope of the FCA scheme. PCP was near-universal for new Porsche purchases, with agreement values ranging from approximately £45,000 on a Macan to over £120,000 on a Cayenne Turbo or full specification 911. At these values, a commission-inflated interest rate could represent thousands of pounds of additional cost, making Porsche potentially one of the highest-value individual claim categories in the scheme.

Common Porsche models in scope

  • Porsche Cayenne

Porsche's flagship SUV and its bestselling UK model; among the higher-value motor finance agreements across the entire UK market, commission disclosure failures here may attract the highest levels of redress.

  • Porsche Macan

Porsche's compact SUV launched in 2014; rapidly grew to become Porsche's bestselling model, predominantly sold on PCP with significant agreement values.

  • Porsche Panamera

Porsche's executive four-door; above-average agreement values, commission exposure in eligible cases is correspondingly significant.

  • Porsche 911

Porsche's iconic sports car; among the highest agreement values in the UK motor finance market throughout the scheme period.

  • Porsche 718 Boxster / Cayman

Porsche's mid-engine sports cars; above-average agreement values given luxury sports positioning, predominantly sold on PCP.

Are you eligible?

You may be eligible to claim against Volkswagen Financial Services if all of the following apply:

  • You took out a PCP or HP motor finance agreement between 6 April 2007 and 1 November 2024.
  • The finance was arranged through a UK dealer or broker, on a regulated agreement.
  • The agreement was for a car, van or motorcycle for personal use.
  • You can identify yourself, we can trace the agreement details on your behalf.

What makes an agreement eligible?

  • A Discretionary Commission Arrangement (DCA) was in place and was not properly disclosed to you. Under a DCA, the dealer could increase your interest rate to earn a larger commission from the lender without telling you.
  • The commission paid to the dealer was unusually high, amounting to at least 39% of the total cost of credit and 10% of the loan, and was not properly disclosed.
  • There was a contractual tie giving the lender exclusivity over your finance, which was not made apparent to you.

Note: agreements arranged through a captive finance arm can still fall within scope. The scheme covers regulated motor finance agreements regardless of whether the lender is independent or manufacturer-owned.

What you could receive

The FCA has confirmed the average payout under the scheme is £829 per agreement. Individual outcomes vary depending on the size of your agreement, the commission charged, and how long the finance ran. If you financed more than one vehicle through Volkswagen Financial Services, each agreement can be assessed.

Frequently asked questions

Is there an upper limit on what the scheme pays on a Porsche agreement?
The scheme does not cap redress at a fixed amount. Compensation reflects the commission element you would not have paid had the arrangement been properly disclosed, plus 8% simple interest, so it scales with the size and length of the agreement. For a very high value agreement, we will also tell you plainly if independent litigation could produce a better outcome than the scheme.
Did Volkswagen Financial Services use Discretionary Commission Arrangements on Porsche finance?
Like most motor finance lenders operating before the FCA ban in January 2021, Volkswagen Financial Services operated commission arrangements with dealers. If your Porsche finance agreement was arranged through VWFS between 2007 and 2024, it may fall within the FCA's scheme. Note that VWFS is currently challenging the scheme in the Upper Tribunal, this does not prevent you from registering a claim now, and the scheme remains in force pending the outcome of that challenge.
Which Porsche models are covered?
Any Porsche agreement financed through Volkswagen Financial Services between 2007 and 2024 may be in scope, including models such as Cayenne, Macan, Panamera, 911, Boxster and Cayman. Eligibility depends on the specific agreement, not the model.
Can I do this myself?
Yes. You don't need to use a solicitor or claims management company to pursue a motor finance complaint. You can contact your lender directly free of charge. The FCA's Consumer Redress Scheme is designed to be accessible without legal representation.
Will making a claim affect my credit score?
No. Making a claim will not affect your credit score. This is a separate process from your credit history.
Do I need to find old paperwork?
No documents are required to get started. We can trace your finance agreements using basic personal details.
What if my lender has been taken over or has exited the market?
This is common for agreements going back to 2007. If the original lender has been acquired, merged, rebranded, or has exited the market, the successor firm typically inherits liability for historic agreements. We handle this on your behalf.
